Sandy Murdoch

See the collection

The late Sandy G Murdoch originally lived in Maud in Aberdeenshire and was a founding member of the Great North of Scotland Railway Association. Using some of his photographs, Sandy published a series of small photographic books entitled All Rails Lead to Inverness, Peterhead Train and Dyce (Aberdeen) to Darnell (Sheffield) and stops in between, and All Rails Lead to Aberdeen. Sandy loved the Great North of Scotland Railway and much of his material concentrates on the railways of North East of Scotland where he was a well-known figure with local railwaymen.

Sandy left his negatives to the Great North of Scotland Railway Society who has loaned them to The Transport Treasury so that they can be made available to enthusiasts. We are grateful to Keith Jones (Chairman of the GNofSRA) for the loan of the collection and to Forbes Munro for identifying many of the negatives for which there were no details.
